Biography

Adam I. Gafni is an experienced litigator and trusted advisor to his clients. In 2024, Mr. Gafni left the United States Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, Complex and Defensive Litigation Division to rejoin the firm. While an Assistant United States Attorney he represented the United States of America in a wide variety of civil litigation matters, including Constitutional and regulatory challenges, employment discrimination, personal injury, class actions, and products liability litigation. As an Assistant United States Attorney and in other employment, Mr. Gafni has taken multiple cases to trial in Federal Court and state court where he obtained favorable verdicts.

Mr. Gafni has gained significant experience at some of the largest and most respected national and regional law firms operating in the Los Angeles area and has regularly appeared in California State Court and the United States District Court, Central District of California representing parties on complex matters.

Mr. Gafni received his Juris Doctor, from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California in 2003, graduating cum laude, Order of the Coif and was a Sarye MacNeil Scholar. He obtained his B.A., in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999. Mr. Gafni has continued his education at the University of Southern California where he obtained a Master of Real Estate Development degree in the Executive MRED Program, emphasis in Construction Management.

Mr. Gafni was a legal extern for the United States Department of Justice, U.S. Trustee Program, for Justice Earl Johnson, Jr. in the California Court of Appeals, and for the Honorable Thomas B. Donovan, United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California. During law school, Mr. Gafni also spent time as a Certified Law Clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorneys’ Office.

Mr. Gafni began the firm to provide exceptional service to his clients through hard-work, and thoughtful legal advocacy. Mr. Gafni regularly represents clients in a variety of industries and sizes. Mr. Gafni is a member of the Copyright Society.

Mr. Gafni is licensed to practice law in California and Hawaii, before each of the United States District Courts in California, District of Hawaii, and the District of Colorado.

Practice Areas

Real Estate & Construction

Mr. Gafni has represented general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and soil engineers in a wide variety of complex construction defect litigation and delay damages claims as well as mechanics lien, collection, and breach of contract of matters arising out of construction disputes.

Mr. Gafni has represented real estate professionals such as architects, engineers, and real estate brokers and salespersons in matters involving allegations negligence, fraud, and breach of contract matters and counseled architects in contract formation and negotiation.

Mr. Gafni has represented owners, investors, partners, and developers in complex real estate litigation, quiet title actions, and fraud litigation involving numerous properties throughout California, including commercial development, multi-family development, and vacant land.

Mr. Gafni has drafted and negotiated real estate option purchase agreements, purchase/sale agreements, and related agreements for investors and owners in real State industry. Mr. Gafni regularly counsels commercial landlords and commercial tenants in lease negotiations, commercial lease litigation.

Beyond prior legal representation, Attorneys in the firm have extended his breadth and depth of knowledge in real estate and construction matters by pursuing a Master of Real State Development, emphasis in Construction Management at the University of Southern California through the Executive Degree Program. Mr. Gafni has been a member of the Urban Land Institute and continues to attend meetings and educational events.

Intellectual Property

Attorneys in the firm have extensive experience in a wide-variety of intellectual property litigation, including employee or competitor trade secret misappropriation, trademark infringement, copyright infringement matters. Mr. Gafni is regularly involved in patent infringement litigation and counseling of businesses considering patent infringement matters or facing issues of patent infringement.

Mr. Gafni regularly counsels business owners, corporations, and individual designers and artists in matters of trade secret, trademark, and copyright protection and associated licensing issues. Attorneys in the firm have drafted licensing agreements to assist in the expansion of his clients’ businesses as well as confidentiality and related agreements with his clients’ employees or independent contractors to ensure his clients rights are adequately protected. Mr. Gafni also assists his clients in obtaining trade mark registration.

Business Litigation

Mr. Gafni has represented partners, officers shareholders, and corporations in a wide-variety of business litigation, collection, and unfair competition matters. Mr. Gafni frequently has represented lending institutions, distributors, textile manufactures, and other creditors in general commercial collection actions, including those involving foreclosure upon security interests and often successfully obtained pre-judgment orders such as writs of attachment to assist in the ultimate collection of judgment.
